Volunteering
Volunteering at The Hut can be rewarding and satisfying to both the volunteer and thecommunity we serve. We believe that as a Hut volunteer you will have have a job that isboth challenging and appreciated and, at the same time, gives you an opportunity to helpothers in the community. It is important to us that our volunteers gain a sense of personalachievement in knowing they have made a difference to the Community in which they live.
People volunteer for many reasons. Some of our volunteers say they like using their skillsand experience to give back to the community or to help people in need. Others enjoylearning new skills, meeting new people in their community, and building friendships. Some volunteers want to increase their employability or get work experience.
Whatever the motivation, without volunteers The Hut could not run its administration, provide social activities, give much needed assistance to members of the communitythrough Caring in our Community, drive the community buses, teach computing, run ourorganic food co-op, Men's Shed, or health and fitness classes.
Our Volunteers are young parents; retirees; employed; looking for work; stay at homemums or dads; seasoned travellers; people who have lived in Australia all there lives, for along time, or are new arrivals; some have a disability; some only volunteer for a short termproject. Whatever their circumstances they are The Hut's life blood and the bedrock of oursuccess.
