The Prostate Cancer Action Group will have a full report on the meeting soon and I will make sure that everyone gets a copy. I did not take notes tonight.

Support Group Chairman John Shields, spoke about his vision for the future of Prostate Cancer Support in the City of Onkaparinga, and emphasised the need to encourage the lady in our life to attend the Support Group meetings with us, whenever this is possible.

John is hopeful that one day the ladies will have their own Support Group meetings.

Prostate Cancer does not only affect the man who has it.

Prostate Cancer also affects the person who shares their life with him.

PROSTATE CANCER SUPPORT IN THE CITY OF ONKAPARINGA MEANS.

Support for the man who has Prostate Cancer.

Support for the lady in his life.

Support for his family and friends.

John also mentioned that some of what he had been talking about is part of our sexuality, which includes the way that we think and feel about ourselves, and each other.

He also said that sexuality is a subject that needs to be spoken about in depth by someone who has a Professional background in that area.

John and his wife Phyllis attended a Leaders Workshop at the Cancer Council South Australia recently and one of the topics was. Sexuality and Cancer. The importance, of raising sexuality.

This is definitely a subject that is of interest to us, and the Speaker, Prue Crouch, told us about Shine SA (Sexual Health information networking & education) SA.

www.shinesa.org.au

Prue said that Woodcroft Community Health Services is part of the education network and Jules Van Kekem, who is a Social Worker there, is arranging a talk on sexuality and Prostate Cancer for one of our meetings next year.

The Carers Association of South Australia is also keen to talk to our Group, especially to the ladies who are our number one source of support.

The lady who we share our life with also needs support, from day one.

Bill`s wife Maralyn, would also like to talk with the ladies, next year, about her early days experience when Bill, was first diagnosed with Prostate Cancer, and her need for Support.

Thank you Maralyn.

WELCOME HOME

TO

DAVID AND ANNE

David and Anne will be back from their overseas trip very soon.

It was good to get the postcards from them to tell us where they were and how they were enjoying their tour abroad.

We look forward to seeing them again at our December meeting and to hearing about, and hopefully, seeing some photos of their time away.

They are certainly arriving back home at the right time of the year, with Summer, just around the corner.

A spot of Nonsense

A guy goes on vacation to the Holy Land with his wife and mother in law.

The mother in law dies.

They go to the Undertaker who explains that they can ship the body home but it will cost over $15 000.00, whereas they can bury her in the Holy Land for only $150.00.

The guy says, “we`ll ship her home”.

The Undertaker asks, “are you sure? That`s an awful big expense and we can do a very nice burial here”.

The guy says, “Look, 2000 years ago they buried a guy here and three day later he rose from the dead. I just can`t take that chance.”

Until next time
