The Society owns John Horrocks Cottage which is State and National Heritage listed and is responsible for its upkeep and availability to the public. We are committed to maintaining the cottage to near its original state and much work has been recently carried out in the adjacent Butchers Shop (Interpretive Centre). The Society also carries out research for people wishing to know more about their ancestors who lived in the area. Other ongoing projects include:
- Cataloguing the Collection - digitizing photos, photographing memorabilia etc
- Maintaining John Horrocks Cottage - ongoing
- Creating an Interpretive Centre - converting restored building adjacent to cottage to house historical displays
- Retracing Horrocks Northern Expedition of 1846 - with a view to compiling a comprehensive account of the journey
- New storage shed - improvements to the cottage site under development
