Christian Aid & Business Services
Inc. (originally named Christian Aid Inc.) was organized
in 1972 by (at that time) only a few christian and charitably
minded persons including a widow who financed the government
fees for the incorporation of the body as a charitable
body under Associations Incorporations Act.
Its
charter documents consisting of a Deed of Trust and Constitution
were approved of in 1972 by the Australian Taxation Office
as a charitable body whose income has been exempt by reason
of having been solely applied for charitable and religious
purposes. Then again in 2000 when the law changed it was
again reviewed and given the (then) new official category
of an “Income Tax Exempt Charity”.
Except
for its initial service in 1972, its most unique service
has been the 1994 venture in setting up its department
called Will Makers Pty. Ltd. to provide a service now
which is probably unique in the world for its orientation
to the community – as opposed to being a body which
only has goods or services to sell to
the public.
