WELCOME TO AVON ART AND CRAFTS

Avon is a small township which takes its name from the Avon Farm and Homestead which was settled about 1889. The township grew from the needs of the first farmers and after a short period comprised of a shop, a post office and a school. In 1923 the railway was uninstalled and Avon became a bustling little village with wheat stacks, fuel agents carpenters, etc..

The pioneer women made their own bread, butter, soap, and candles. Today the women (although not the same ones) still carry on these traditions and present their wares for sales at the Avon Bazaar. Today Avon is essentially a grain growing area with grazing for sheep and cattle. With its wide open spaces, clean air, clear views of night skies, lovely night walks and abundant wildlife it provides for a friendly and relaxed living style.

Avon is also a place to take time out from the hustle and bustle of city living - it is only an hours drive along the new Highway. An ideal family getaway at very low cost.
