Fibromyalgia Self-Management Programs

Fibromyalgia Management programs and networking groups are increasingly available. Web-based programs are available.

Fibromyalgia-specific programs are recommended because they provide reliable and up-to-date information. These programs guide patients through the maze of unreliable and non-evidence based information, helping to make better-informed treatment and lifestyle decisions.

They also provide strategies to improve knowledge, shared decision making, communication with health care providers and improve quality of life. These lifestyle strategies to complement medical-based therapies and are based on proven education and cognitive behaviour techniques.

Other group activities

There are also locally held community and allied health group activities which may benefit individual patients. It is important to include all activities and opportunities in Care Plans and encourage patient to provide feedback at the Annual Review.
