History
The Port Broughton Sailing and Boat Club Inc. was formalised after receiving through Broughton Twenty-Twenty Vision a seeding grant from the Office of Employment and Youth to purchase several sailing boats and a power boat for the communities local youth between 12-25 years of age to learn sailing, boat handling and related skills.
These lessons, by the Club's qualified Instructor, are free until the person can sail. The boat hire is free, with the appropriate certificates being issued. As the use of the vessels should be maximised during the lessons, instruction and hire will be available to over 25's either singly or in groups and also for public hire. Club membership is open to all persons, businesses and professional bodies with the view that the Club would take a lager role in actively working for and promoting views of the wider community relation to the coastal and maritime issues of Port Broughton.
The Clubs interests include the preserving of Port Broughton's maritime history and the teaching of traditional skills and are gathering a collection of craft and related equipment for a Working Maritime Museum attraction.
