The Friends of the Great Victoria Desert Parks acknowledge that we work on the lands of the Tjaliri Corporation and the Maralinga Tjarutja people.  We respect their spiritual relationship with their country. The land on which we hold meetings is the traditional land of the Kaurna People.

2020 Field Trip Cancelled

To protect volunteers, staff and the public during the COVID-19 outbreak, the Department of Environment and Water has decided that Friends of Parks members must cease all organised activities in parks until further notice.  This means that all proposed field trips for 2020 have been cancelled.  Keep well and safe during these extraordinary times.  We hope we can organise another trip next year.

2019 Field Trip

The field trip to the Goog's Track area took place over the week beginning 17 June.  All the planned vegetation photopoints were re-photographed and overhead drone images were added where appropriate.  The mallee fowl contingent undertook ground-level data collections at more than two dozen potential mallee fowl mound sites.  Participants camped at Nalara Rocks, Goog's Lakes and Mt Finke, and a productive and enjoyable time was had by all.  A full report can be found in our January 2020 Newsletter.

2018 Field Trips

Three trips took place in 2018:

  • Photopoints and Quandong Monitoring, Cook Road to Anne Beadell Highway to Serpentine Lakes returning via Ilkurlka, 13 – 24 August.
  • Quandong Monitoring, Cook Road and BMR 6 returning via Oak Valley, 20 – 31 August 2018.
  • Bird surveys, Eucalyptus wyolensis studies,  MT Lands returning via Oak Valley, 3 – 15 September.

Reports on these trips can be found in our January 2019 Newsletter.
