The Friends of the Great Victoria Desert Parks acknowledge that we work on the lands of the Tjaliri Corporation and the Maralinga Tjarutja people. We respect their spiritual relationship with their country. The land on which we hold meetings is the traditional land of the Kaurna People.
To protect volunteers, staff and the public during the COVID-19 outbreak, the Department of Environment and Water has decided that Friends of Parks members must cease all organised activities in parks until further notice. This means that all proposed field trips for 2020 have been cancelled. Keep well and safe during these extraordinary times. We hope we can organise another trip next year.
The field trip to the Goog's Track area took place over the week beginning 17 June. All the planned vegetation photopoints were re-photographed and overhead drone images were added where appropriate. Reports on these trips can be found in our January 2019 Newsletter.
A comprehensive information pack for leaders and members going on field trips has been prepared. A short version of the pack can be viewed here. The full version can be viewed by members after logging in to the members' area.
A general meeting was scheduled for Friday 5 June, but it is expected that COVID-19 measures will still be in place then, and that holding the meeting will not be possible. Further advice will be posted on this page closer to the date.
