Coffee and Crayons - The Wise Men

Christmas Time at CFK. This year we focus on Three Wise Men who followed the star of Bethlehem to worship Jesus. Read on to discover some amazing Wise Men facts.

The Wise Men

They laid their offerings at his feet;
The gold was their tribute to a King,
The frankincense, with its odor sweet,
Was for the Priest, the Paraclete,
The myrrh for the body's burying."

~from Longfellow's "The Three Kings"~

Each gift given to Jesus has a prophetic statement to make about His life. Jesus is our high priest who speaks for us to God, He is the King of all Kings and He was crucified for our sins. Did the wise men know this about Jesus? Is that why they chose these gifts?

How many wise men?

Ok so aren't you wondering why I didn't say THREE wise men?
Take a look at what the scriptures say. I always just assumed there were three.....there are three gifts that they brought. But does it say there are 3 wise men. No it actually doesn't say how many wise men there were. This concept is really true with many different doctrines, and believes that we have. We just listen to what others tell us and don't check it out and search the scriptures for ourselves. I challenge you to see what God's word really says and base your beliefs on the Word and not others peoples opinions. Here are a few verses of scripture that deal with this:

~2 Timothy 2:15~ "Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."

Star of Bethlehem!

Has the Mystery of the Star Over Bethlehem been Resolved?
There are many explanations about just what this star was. Some suggest a comet, some an Angelic being and others say that it was an astrological event where certain stars appear together in the sky.

Archeologist Jonathan Gray and author Patrick Heron state that the stars tell us God’s plan of salvation for mankind. There are 48 constellations (not 12 like the Zodiac suggests) which bear the names of significant Biblical historical events. From the fall of man in the garden of Eden to the Virgin birth of Jesus and some constellations have names that speak of the end times.

Did the “Wise Men” who visited Jesus know about God’s signs in the sky? Perhaps they did. Perhaps these Wise Men who came from the area of Babylon had some information that the ancient Israelites left with them during their time of captivity. Remember Daniel and the Lions Den. Daniel was appointed as a ‘Wise Man’ to the King of Babylon. Perhaps it was He who left records for the future “Wise Men’ of Christmas time! Go to our "Cutting edge section to discover more".
