OF THE GENERAL MEETING Held at the Old Union Chapel, Penrice Road,
Angaston on Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at 7.30 p.m. PRESENT: Dr Bill Gransbury (Chairman), Anthony Schubert (Secretary), Barry
Chinner, Merle Hopkins, Ted Hopkins, Kingsley Ireland, Ron Schilling, Bill and
Elizabeth Sibley. Due to only three attending the July meeting and seven apologies some
brief notes from that night were included into this meeting. * $2,500 grant has been received from Barossa Council and part of this
can go towards photographic collection needs? * Ron to check on the cemetery signs and a way to improve their
readability. * Barry advised that the new road will be called Turner’s Lane. This is due to the fact that
the hill that it joins is known as Butchers Hill/Turner’s Hill. * Penrice Mine Community concerns will be
raised at another meeting this Thursday night. OUT: * Paul Mariani is going to develop land at back for senior citizen
type units. Shed will have to be made smaller and moved prior to then to house
the Turner’s Van and other items. Bill to see Paul to get some sort of details
in writing. * A number of
people lately have visited the shop and are now interested in being
blacksmiths/guides. * The
background to the naming of Volunteer Avenue/Schilling Street was also
discussed. Anthony has some info. * The Golden

the meeting. It is an opportunity to set up a workshop and to find out what we

Setting up a budget could be worthwhile?
* Fruits of Angaston – Barry is progressing nicely with this project and has
become very enthused in it. A display was held in the Town Hall during the
Vintage Festival of 1995 to do with Angaston Fruit industry and mining. Any
idea of who organised it would be appreciated. Bill suggested that Brian Hurn
may have been the person in charge of the Angaston activities that year?

OTHER BUSINESS:
* Material in the Chapel’s small room in relation to the Angaston Railway
Station is also to be moved to Ian’s along with the Town Hall stuff when
appropriate.
* Elizabeth and Bill commented on their recent interstate trip of the many
towns that had museum type buildings and restaurants/hotels or similar that had
photographic displays on their walls of the history of the particular town. It
would be ideal to have this type of thing in Angaston if suitable buildings
could be found, eg. former National Bank which Barry will look into.
