About Us

The Stables Christian Centre was established in 1993 by Pastor Sonny Hoet and his wife Lynne because there was a need to provide a facility that would bring people together to develop strong families through skill training programs aimed at breaking the cycle of poverty.

 Our Philosophy

"The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the broken-hearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed”
Luke 4:18

Our vision is to offer the love of Christ to individuals, families and young people who are in need, by showing care and practical assistance, and empowering them to make choices that will enhance their overall health and spiritual well being.

We seek to help families and individuals to belong to and participate in community life

We do all we can to assist people to become free from poverty, trauma and hopelessness so that they might experience friendships, support, love and increased spiritual understanding

We provide opportunities for people to obtain skills for employment and along the way they gain self esteem confidence and a love of life and community

The Stables is open Monday to Friday.  The Social Assistance branch of the church Stable Help Inc has two programs, Stable Work and The Stables Community Support Unit, which are structured to assist people at their point of need.

Volunteers are on hand to lend a listening ear, to provide food parcels, budget advice and housing assistance, to help you find a bargain in the OpShop or to assist with skills training for unemployed, young people and for seniors who want to learn to use the computer.
