Welcome to the website of the Dante Alighieri Society of South Australia Inc.

Our Society is an international organization established in Italy in 1889 with the aim of promoting Italian language and culture; reanimating the links between Italians living abroad and their homeland, and nourishing and disseminating a love of Italian culture throughout the world.

There are currently more than 450 Dante branches around the world with the number continuing to grow. In Australia there is at least one committee in every State. In South Australia the Society was founded in 1964 and has organised a wide range of programmes for its members and the community at large.

The Adelaide branch provides Italian language classes and Italian proficiency certification, organises musical recitals and public lectures on Italian language and culture and supports the South Australian State Opera Company and Italian film festival.

If you are a lover of Italian language, culture, food and love to travel to Italy come and join us and experience the world in Italian.

bm Welcome to it.sa!

it.sa, the Association of Italian-Australian Youth in South Australia, will be joining forces with the Dante Alighieri Society of South Australia Inc as their Youth sub-committee.

it.sa shares similar aims and objectives as DA, and we feel now is the perfect time to bring together two of South Australia’s Italian associations who promote the same thing and operate under the one umbrella.
The it.sa sub-committee will continue to provide its members with great social and cultural events; be involved in projects and community engagement as currently undertaken on a regular basis with Radio Italiana, but also continue to provide an advocacy service to the youth of South Australia with information and a forum to engage with modern-day Italy, with space for dialogue, exchange and divertimento (fun and excitement).

The DA Society of South Australia Inc warmly welcome it.sa the establishment of a Youth sub-committee and acknowledge its important role in the promotion of Italian language and culture in SA.
