Programs available

Careful Kids Program Saturday afternoon classes are held for children 5-8 years.
(These are structured over 3 stages.)

Bikeways Program Saturday afternoon classes for children aged 9-12 years.
(These sessions also incorporate on road riding and bikeways riding.)

Bicycle Maintenance Classes Conducted once a term for children aged 8+ years.
(Children bring their own bicycles.)

Bicycle Identification Conducted by Tea Tree Gully Kiwanis Service Club.

School Holidays Road Safety Education lessons are held during the school holidays for children aged 5-12 years.

Ride-N-Swim Safety Day Is conducted in the January school holidays.
(Session held at Road and Cycle Safety Centre and WaterWorld Swimming Centre.)

School class groups Lesson content varies according to the age level of the children.

Road Safety instruction is given by means of lectures, signs, posters, and videos suited to the appropriate age level. The children also spend the session time in practical training.


The centre features a specially prepared roadway and traffic signals, including pedestrian activated, railway and school crossings, roundabout, traffic signs, line markings and kerbing. It is equipped with sizes 20, 22, 24 bicycles plus sizes 12 and 16 bicycles which are fitted with stabilisers. Students from Pre school to Year 7 are adequately catered for.


The centre is equipped with cycling safety helmets, although students are encouraged to bring their own helmets. Safe footwear (no thongs), comfortable and sensible clothing is essential for safe cycling.

A small fee is charged to assist with the costs incurred in delivering this road safety education program to the young community.
