"WOMENS SAILING COMPETITION" THREE TIME WINNERS ^^^^^ ^^^^ ^^^^^^^ PORT BROUGHTON - On Sunday October 4th 2004-fourteen women and girls fronted up on the pontoon at the Pt. Broughton Jetty for the only Seriously fun 'Women's Sailing Competition' in the Mid North. Several of the crews had not sailed before and were instructed in the basics on the pontoon before setting out on a practice sail. All survived... They vowed to return next year early to get some practice before racing. Two heats were sailed with three crews in the first. In the second heat were the winners from the last two years going for a hat trick. These were Jessica and Kimberly Schuller. True to form the afternoon breeze increased for the final and boats were zipping all over the bay. Kimberly and Jessica sailed a conservative race to win the title and the trophy for the third year in a row. 1st- Jessica & Kimberly Schuller 2nd- Ashleigh Stedman & Kailah Blyth 3rd- Calalou Klinger & Sarah Broughman & Alison Archibald 4th- Chris Always & Rowena Edwards & Tina Moore 5th- Jan Prentice & Jo Rutherford Jones 6th- Tina Moore & Alison Archibald 7th- Kali Gelmain & Fiona Bliney Each entrant received a goodie bag with many items contributed by: Pfizer, Kimberly Clark, Johnson & Johnson, Kao Australia, Cypress & Sons, and real foods. The competition was supported by the following clubs and organisations: Port Broughton Hotel Social Club, Port Broughton Road House, Rags & Riches, and Central Deli. The fun competition and sailing tuition is organised by the Port Broughton Sailing and Boat Club as part of their year round programs.
