ProjectsThe Wayfinders ProjectThe Wayfinders Project is a special program developed by the Port
Broughton Sailing and Boat Club Inc. and funded through a grant from the
Office of the Aging. The program is to enable seniors over 55, Women and
Men, travellers, visitors and locals from all over the Mid-North Region of
South Australia, to either experience the joy of sailing, learn to sail,
or to once again go sailing. The program also has older type putt-putt
motor vessels for fishing on your own or with some friends, or to just
enjoy a boat ride with an experienced skipper or companion if
required.
Fisherman's Friend ProgramThe Club also has the Port Broughton Fisherman's Friend - Mate program, which endeavours to find a young companion person to go fishing with the seniors, who would not normally go to the sea by themselves. Working Maritime MuseumThe Club is establishing a Working Maritime Museum with older volunteers passing on their knowledge to youngsters interested in traditional boat building skills, while preserving the maritime history of the Town. A more detailed description about these plans can be viewed here. |
