Port Broughton Sailing & Boat Club Inc.

Port Broughton, on Yorke Peninsula, South Australia is on the shores of a picturesque, safe, shallow all weather harbour with a lovely grassy shaded foreshore, and while the others are out seafaring you and your friends can enjoy the Town, the Dining establishments and the assorted accommodation. Go here to view the national location of Port Broughton.

The Port Broughton Sailing and Boat Club is primarily a teaching organization of both power boating and sailing, for youth and older persons. The Club was formed to administer a seeding grant received for isolated and rural youth and other grants and income and ensure the most use is made of the funding into the future. It is non-political working for the overall good of all sea users, the improvement of facilities, the Port and the marine environment.

The Club has several programs ranging through: -
Free sailing and powerboat lessons for under 25s who come from all over to enjoy the safe waters of the Port. This is a very successful program giving many their first taste of sailing, increasing the knowledge of others and also includes new sailing and boating experiences for those with disabilities.
The Wayfinders project, for over 55s sailors and those who want to learn or just enjoy sailing or motor boating, enabling those who are either unable to physically handle their own boats anymore, or on pensions can not afford to go boating anymore.
Adult sailing and powerboat lessons for those who would like to have a little adventure but never had the chance.
The Fisherman's Friend where we team up a young and old person to go fishing together so the young person can do the hard work and the old person teaches his skills.
The "Volunteer" a diesel powered displacement motorboat for local community volunteers to use.

The Clubs vessels are available for public hire to subsidise the Clubs programs.

We have qualified instructors in sailing, power boating, radio operation and boat building available for advice, practical knowledge and support.

The Club is in the process of building a Working Maritime Museum to provide further educational facilities with vessel building, boat restoration, marine engineering, static and interactive displays, memorabilia, and a reference library. The complex will include Clubrooms and storage facilities for the club owned vessels and equipment.

Our membership base ranges from 6yrs old to 70+ sailors and power boaters and includes commercial fishing interests, amateur fisherman and commercial sponsors and supporters. We also have a core of very dedicated volunteers who are not members but keep the vessels operating.

The Club has initiated several improvements in the Port for the public at large and seeks to initiate more for boating safety and enjoyment.

We look forward to seeing you enjoying our hospitality and the beauty and safety of our Port.
