Port Augusta 8 Ball Association is a non-profitable run organisation. Its aim’s are to promote Eightball as a professional sport and involve the younger generation in the sport.

Eightball in Port Augusta began in around 1970 when the Hotel Commonwealth began its own club known as the “Hotel Commonwealth Cue Club”. This lasted around 3 years and then the Port Augusta Eightball Association was formed incorporating all the clubs and pubs in Port Augusta with as many as 30 teams. This particular Port Augusta Eightball Association lasted for around 10 years before folding due to many reasons.
Around 15 years ago a meeting held at the Hannahville Hotel revived Eightball in Port Augusta and the current competition was begun. The Port Augusta 8 Ball Association was formed and is still going to this day. Over the years many changes have been seen with the introduction of new players, old players retiring, surrounding towns joining the competition, State and Eyre Peninsula participation and of course the new World Eightball Rules.
Over the years the number of participating teams has dwindled to the present number of 14 teams competing in 2003.
