Network for Tsunami Aceh Inc Fundraising Dinner 16 April 2005
On Saturday 16 April NTA Inc held its first dinner to help the children affected by the Tsunami on 26 December last year. The dinner was held at the Veneto Function Centre at Beverley and attended by an impressive 350 people. This night was an extremely successful and enjoyable evening with a fantastic $11,000 being raised for the children and 15 children being sponsored on the night.
The program commenced with relaxing music and songs by Indonesian students, followed by an inspiring Balinese welcome dance; introduction by Roswita Khaiyath (NTA President and MC for the night); then a thought provoking presentation about the Aceh disaster by keynote speaker and media personality Jessica Adamson including tsunami footage to ensure a full appreciation of the shattering events in Aceh.
The entertainment continued with an awesome (as always) Tari Saman performance by the talented and beautiful Adelaide Indonesian women; an interesting and fun auction (skillfully conducted by John Goldsworthy) of Indonesian goods; presentation of door prizes; and dancing to the music and songs from the local dance band. Even a clever Magician circulating across the audience added fun to the evening and assisted by enticing further donations from the already generous audience. Feedback received by the guests was that the food, which was Italian style was very tasty. So all in all it was a great night, full of both sensitive moments, socialising and fun and made a great contribution to the children of Aceh who are in much need of our support.
NTA would like to thank everyone who attended and gave their kind support and help to make this event for the children of Aceh such a good success as they need as much help as they can receive.
