Network for Tsunami Aceh Inc
On 26 December 2004 a giant Earth quake of 9.3 on the Richter Scale occurred off the coast of Indonesia’s Aceh province. The quake sparked a huge Tsunami sending massive tidal waves towards the coast, which destroyed a large number of coastal areas in Aceh, Indonesia and numerous islands in the province of North Sumatra. The tsunami buried part of the cities of Meulaboh and Banda Aceh, caused hundreds of thousands of people to lose their lives and many hundreds of thousands to be listed as homeless survivors and orphans. Many people, particularly the children as the future of Aceh, are in genuine and serious need of help.
In order to aid affected children of the Tsunami disaster in Aceh, and surrounding Indonesian provinces, the Indonesian and Australian communities and other interested people in South Australia on 1 January 2005 established an umbrella, non-profit, charity organisation called the “Network for Tsunami Aceh Incorporated” (NTA Inc).
NTA Inc assistance includes Fundraising, Child Sponsorship and the NTA Learning Centre located in Bada in Aceh.
