Remedial action undertaken by the mining companies to prevent silt run-off

This photo was taken from the bridge near the sewage pumping station just off St. Buryan Crescent. 1 -1.5km upstream of the eastern entrance to the park. It shows the confluence of Slate (left hand side) and Cobbler (right hand side) Creeks. Slate Creek is slightly discoloured in a manner consistent with the dark soils of the area. Cobbler Creek shows a heavy, creamy, milky discolouration consistent with the clays and sands mined in the GGEIZ (1 - 2 km) upstream of this location. This siltation is choking up the creek and is therefore changing the nature of a water flow through the park. Obviously any remedial action undertaken by the mining companies to prevent silt run-off has been ineffective.
