About the Friends
The Park looking East
Grasby Memorial Park - your local nature reserve.
A community group, The Friends of Grasby Memorial Park (FoGMP) was formed with members from the surrounding districts. The Friends Group has as its main interest the preservation of the fauna and flora of the Park and the control of exotic weed species such as gorse and blackberry.
What do the Friends do?
The Friends Group is also responsible for the preservation of the Park environs and sensitive development of further walking trails and other features.
Objectives
- To sustainably manage the Park environment, with special emphasis on the management of vegetation.
- To provide for the general public a range of recreational possibilities which compliment the environmental objectives for the Park.
- To educate Park visitors about the historical significance of the Park, and to enhance their appreciation and
- To promote community involvement in the ongoing management of the Park.
Supporting the Friends
You are invited to subscribe to 'The Friends' to support our ongoing work within the Park. Cost is $10 per household per annum or $20 for businesses and other organisations. Donations are also welcome. See the Contact Us section for our contact details.
The Friends welcome people to join the committee to help with this very worthwhile local project.
