Annual Community Festival

We know last year's Festival of Fun and Fitness has left vivid and enduring memories in the mind of all those who attended but this is just to let you know that you should be practising your giggles and gales of laughter in the garden, in the shower, wherever the moment presents itself because 2010's Community Festival is going to be a ripper!  The theme is

 "Laugh out Loud"

or, for anybody in touch with technology, LOL, and we'll be looking to tickle your funnybone with the activities and entertainment provided.  Sunday October 24th is the day, 12 noon to 4.00pm the times and we'll be looking to provide you with some simple joy and fun!

The event is free and open to all age groups and backgrounds with activities of interest to both adults and children alike.  Try out the oversized board games, Bungee Run, Body Socks, cartooning, juggling and balloon sculpting to name just a few.  The festival will also feature entertainment by Wobbles the Clown, Cloggers, Laughter Yoga, the Aust. National Yo-Yo champion(15yo Vu Ho!), Circo Bats, and a roving comedian.

Come and Laugh Out Loud with your friends, family and total strangers.  It's a feel good day to be enjoyed by all and it's sponsored by the City of Onkaparinga, The Government of South Australia and LJ Hooker of Blackwood.

If you have any enquiries regarding the Festival, see Jodie Kelley or Lyn Walkley at the Centre or give them a ring on 8370 6880

Movie Under the Stars

Looking for a low cost family activity close to home and with a great atmosphere?  Look no further than Weymouth Oval on Saturday, 20th November, 2010.  The Coromandel Community Centre, as part of its LJ Hooker Coro Creates program, will be hosting an outdoor cinema on the oval at 442B Main Rd, Coromandel Valley.

A temporary outdoor cinema will be erected courtesy of funds provided by the City of Onkaparinga.  Bring your rugs, beanbags or low back chairs and enjoy the screening of "Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs" (G rating)  The Onkaparinga Concert Band will entertain the crowd from 7.30pm.  All this and we're only asking for a $2 donation for the evening!  Drinks (hot and cold), icecream, popcorn and glowsticks will be on sale to help fund this great family event.

In the event of rain being forecast the event will be cancelled.

If you have further enquiries, contact the Centre office on 8370 6880. A brief synopsis of the film follows:

"Cloudy with.................." is a fun and eccentric comedy about Flint Lockwood, a misunderstood and quirky inventor who creates a machine that causes food to rain from the sky.  Just as Flint begins to receive the recognition he has always longed for, the machine spirals out of control, stirring up a worldwide phenomenon.
