Preamble
Young Women's and Children's Support Service Coalition Inc. recognizes
and respects the philosophy of both Coolock House and Malvern House
and makes this shared statement:
- YWACSS recognises the right of each young woman to choose her
style of parenting.
- YWACSS recognises the right of each child to grow in a safe
and caring environment.
- YWACSS recognises that young pregnant women and young women
with children have the right to adequate, appropriate, secure,
safe and affordable housing.
- YWACSS recognises that young women have a right to claim their
own power and to choose the direction of their lives. It is our
responsibility to offer information, support and encouragement
in a way that will enable them to take control of their lives.
- YWACSS respects the individual person, her life story and her
individual situation. We encourage self-determination by a doing
with and a being with. We commit ourselves to walking with those
young women and children who have not yet found their place or
space in the community.
- YWACSS believes all people have the right to be free from the
cycles of homelessness, poverty, violence and abuse.
- YWACSS recognises the right of young women to freely access
it services.
