The Young Woman's and Children's
Support Services Coalition recognises the goals of both Coolock
House and Malvern House and makes this shared statement.
Goals
- To provide accommodation in a supportive environment for homeless
young women with children. (SAAP age group 12 - 25: with a focus
on 18+ young pregnant women.)
- To provide a Minimal Support/Outreach Support program for young
women with children and young pregnant women.
- To provide an opportunity for these young women to continue
to value and develop their parenting skills.
- To assist these young women in their growth towards independence,
self-confidence and self-determination for themselves and their
children.
- To provide information, advocacy, counselling and life skills
development educational opportunities.
- To network with local community resources in facilitating consumer
networking.
- To assist these young women and children establish appropriate
stable accommodation.
- To be available as a resource to other YSAAP agencies accommodating
young pregnant women and young women with children.
- To provide support services through the YSAAP Brokerage.
- To enable these young women and children, where appropriate,
to establish/re-establish family links and support.
